Getting to Oban
Whatever your choice of transport, we guarantee a spectacular journey to Oban. The journey takes you through some of the most stunning scenery Scotland has to offer and you will wish the trip was never ending! It takes around 3 hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh and around 2 hours from Stirling.
By Road
From the South
Take the A82 which takes you round the iconic Loch Lomond, then you can either go via Tyndrum or follow the A83 over the 'Rest and be Thankful' through Inveraray.
From the North
From Inverness – take the A82 south and then follow the A828 at the roundabout after the Ballachulish Bridge. It takes around 2.5hrs from Inverness to Oban.
From the East
From Perth – take the A85 west to Oban. Takes around 2hrs 15 mins from Perth.

By Rail
By rail, the journey takes you along the world-famous West Highland Line. First ScotRail runs trains three times a day from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Oban (two on Sunday). By Air
You can fly to Oban directly by private charter flight to Oban Airport at North Connel!
Glasgow is the nearest large airport to Oban and is approximately 90 miles away.
Other information
It is possible to hire a car or bicycles in Oban and it also has a regular bus service. Oban is known as the gateway to the isles and boasts regular CalMac sailings to the magic islands off the west coast of Scotland.
